Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the AI-based RACE (Role, Action, Context, Execute) Framework in enhancing EFL learners’ narrative writing skills. Conducted at SMAN 1 Mojosari, the research employed a quasi-experimental design involving two classes: an experimental group taught using ChatGPT with the RACE Framework and a control group taught using conventional methods. A total of 72 eleventh-grade students participated. Data collection included pre-tests, post-tests, and questionnaires to assess writing performance and motivation. Writing assessment focused on content, organization, vocabulary, language use, and mechanics. The results showed significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group. Statistical analysis using SPSS confirmed the effectiveness of the AI-based RACE Framework in improving coherent and well-structured narrative writing. Questionnaire results indicated positive student responses, showing higher motivation and engagement. This study suggests that integrating AI with the RACE Framework creates a structured, supportive environment for enhancing narrative writing in EFL classrooms.
